A warehouse is the automated buffer between bulk imports and your stores. A working Big Ambitions 1.0 setup needs storage in the warehouse, an HQ with a Purchasing Agent and Logistics Manager, an importer contract, a driver and assigned vehicle, and delivery targets for each destination. The official game description identifies importing through the harbor and distributing through a warehouse network as the step beyond manual restocking.

Use a warehouse when manual supply becomes the bottleneck

A warehouse is worth considering when profitable stores repeatedly lose sales because you are driving to wholesalers, moving boxes, or reacting to stockouts. It is not automatically profitable: the warehouse, HQ staff, drivers, vehicles, and inventory tie up cash. Start only when the saved labor and avoided stockouts justify that overhead.

Warehouse setup checklist

1. Rent the right warehouse

Use VoogleMaps to filter warehouse buildings. Compare usable floor area and vehicle bays, not retail Traffic Index. Start the warehouse business and place compatible storage with free box capacity.

2. Add the HQ roles

Create or use a Headquarters with scheduled workstations for:

  • a Purchasing Agent to hold an importer contract and order goods; and
  • a Logistics Manager to connect the warehouse to store destinations.

An employee who is hired but not scheduled at a valid workstation does not complete the chain.

3. Assign a driver and vehicle

Park the delivery vehicle in the warehouse's driver bay, assign a qualified Delivery Driver to it, and confirm both appear in the warehouse logistics view. Vehicle type and employee skill affect how many destinations can be served, so verify the current values in BizMan rather than copying an old fixed limit.

4. Create the importer contract

Visit the relevant importer once to add the contact, assign the Purchasing Agent, choose the products, set the warehouse destination, and place or enable the order. When using target-based ordering, enter the desired product quantity—not a box count—and leave enough cash and storage for the delivery.

5. Add store destinations

Assign the Logistics Manager to the warehouse, add each store as a destination, and set a target for every product that store can accept. The warehouse sends the difference needed to bring the destination toward its target; it cannot deliver a product that is absent from warehouse stock or unsupported by the store's installed sales equipment.

Test one product end to end

Before importing a full catalog, test one essential product:

  1. Confirm the purchase order is active and names the correct warehouse.
  2. Advance to the delivery window and verify the warehouse inventory increases.
  3. Confirm the driver, vehicle, Logistics Manager, and store destination are assigned.
  4. Set a modest destination target.
  5. Advance through the route and check that warehouse stock falls while store stock rises.

That inventory movement is the success signal. Once it works, add products and destinations gradually so a new failure has an obvious cause.

If imports or deliveries do not run

Check the chain from left to right:

  • Order: active contract, correct product, correct warehouse, and order confirmed.
  • Money: enough cash at the time the order is processed.
  • Warehouse storage: enough compatible free capacity for all delivered boxes.
  • Purchasing Agent: scheduled, assigned to the correct importer, and connected to the destination warehouse.
  • Warehouse stock: the product actually arrived before a store route tried to collect it.
  • Logistics Manager: scheduled and assigned to this warehouse.
  • Vehicle and driver: both assigned to a valid warehouse bay and qualified for the route.
  • Destination: the correct store is added and has a nonzero target for the product.
  • Store storage: enough room exists for the incoming boxes.

The community import guide identifies insufficient cash and insufficient shelf capacity as reasons an import can be cancelled instead of partially delivered.

A 1.0 launch bug can look like bad setup

Build 3674 fixed an employee-leaving bug that could cause training, imports, and deliveries to fail together. If several previously working systems stopped at the same time shortly after the 1.0 launch, update the game first and let the save continue into the next day before rebuilding routes.

After that patch-specific check, return to the dependency order above. Changing every target and assignment at once makes the real break harder to find.
